Trivandrum Thiruvananthapuram is the capital city of God's own country Kerala and is famous for its golden beaches and rich cultural heritage. Trivandrum city is replete with historical monuments preserved with the history of Kerala. The sun kissed beaches, exquisite artwork and age old palaces make Thiruvananthapuram or Trivandrum the idyllic retreat of tourists.

Padmanabhaswamy Temple :

The Padmanabhaswamy temple located in the heart of the city is built in the Dravidian style. The 30-metre tall Gopuram (tower) is built with 365 pillars, equaling a year’s days, into the inner corridor. Lord Vishnuis the deity of the temple which has been the family deity of the southern Kerala’s early kings. The unlettered details lay in three doors. The feet of the Lord is in one door, the lotus in the second and the face in the third.

Napier Museum :
This prominent museum in the Trivandrum city is named after erstwhile British Governor of Madras, Napier. Napier museum structure itself is marvelous. The unique and excellent architecture of the structure includes the tall and slander towers, stained glass windows and special type roofs. The museum displays large collections of bronzes, historical ornaments, temple chariots and ivory items.

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo :
Thiruvananthapuram zoo is a century and half old being the fifth oldest in India, was set up by the former ruler and king of Travancore, Uthram Thirunal. It is a unique marvelous, with no rival in India for its design and layout. Major attractions include beautiful Victorian-style cages, the lake, the curling pathways, the lawns, and the nearby Top Garden. The zoo inhabits many rare and endangered species with most of them nourished in open enclosures. Almost all types of wild species nurtured here.

Sree Chithira Art Gallery :
Sree Chithira Art Gallery is situated in Napier museum grounds. It exhibits Good collection of paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and Roerich, copies of Rajput, Mughals and Tanjore schools of art and paintings, and that of Ajantha, Ali Bagh Caves. The collection also includes the paintings from China, Japan, Bali and Tibet.

Shanmugham Beach :
Shanmugham Beach located near the city is known for its white sanded quiet Beach free from any traps. The virgin appeal of the beach attracts lots of tourists to this enchanting spot. The magnificent beach offers magical sights of the sea swallowing the sun slowly and compensating the loss of light by stars ascent one after one from nowhere.

Padmanabhapuram Palace :
The Padmanabhapuram Palace is a unique fort created in wood. The architecture of the palace exhibits simplicity and elegance of the structure which is beyond easy description. The construction of the palace was initiated by Iravi Varma Kulasekhara Perumal in 1601 AD and was completed by Maharaja Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma in 1744. It was then dedicated to Lord Padmnabha (Vishnu) and christened, Padmnabha Perumal Palace. The name of the palace was then transformed to Padmanabhapuram Palace in the later years.

Vizhinjam :
Vizhinjam located 17 km south of Thiruvananthapuram city and 2 km south of Kovalam is a most demanding destination of Trivandrum. The land mark of Vizhinjam is a cave temple and a fishing harbor. The single celled shrine inside with a loose sculpture of Vinandhara Dhakshinamoorthi is also worth visiting. Semi-complete carvings of the images of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi are present outside the cave.

Varkala :
The small town of Varkala is a seashore retreat and a prominent Hindu pilgrimage centre located 32 km north of Thiruvananthapuram city. The Jananardhana temple is the centre-stage of the pilgrimage. The allure of Varkala is specific on 2 km red cliff face stretching from the South cliff to the Thiruvambady beach at the north end and the Shivagiri Mutt, the pilgrim centre.

Kovalam :
Kovalam is marked for its enchanting beaches in the world tourism map. Kovalam features a rare experience nowhere else in the world available. It’s an idea spot for Nature lovers, philosophers, writers, documentary writers, television documentary shooters, notably BBC.

Poovar :
Poovar located 18 km from Thiruvananthapuram city, and 3 km from Kovalam is a beautiful tourist destination. It is close to the Poovar River, backwaters and the sea.
