Kerala Beaches
The tranquil Beaches of Kerala are spread along 900 km of Arabian Sea coastline. The seafood cuisine, relaxing spas, water sports and alluring resorts to stay for a refreshing holidays are the specialties of Kerala coastlines. The long shoreline with some of the finest, most charming beaches, natural harbors, coconut groves and lagoons are unique for Kerala coasts. The natural charm and hospitality of the people adds to the allure of the beautiful surrounding.

Alappuzha :
Quite a popular tourist spot in Kerala is the Alappuzha beach known to provide relaxation. The 140 years old pier extends into the sea here, is a major attraction. Alappuzha is a natural wonderland of Kerala state blessed with nature's green beauties such as lagoons, cosmic lakes and several fresh water rivers. The spectacular Alappuzha (Alleppey) beach is indeed a beloved destination of both the foreign and local visitors.

Bekal :
The sleepy village of Bekal on the coast of Arabian Sea is located 64 km south of Mangalore. The virgin beaches, Centuries old Fort and pristine backwaters are the key attractions here. This is the only destination in Kerala which is declared as Special Tourism Area by the Govt. of India. This fascinating sea shore is fast developing as an international beach destination.

Beypore :
Beypore is well known for the boat building yard and the construction of the traditional Arabian trading vessel, the Uru. Relax at the Beypore beach with peace and serenity wrapped in a warm embrace and gaze into the vast blue expanse of the Arabian Sea. Located 10 km south of Kozhikode, Beypore is one of the prominent ports and fishing harbours of ancient kerala being an important trade and maritime centre. It is located at the mouth of chliyar river. The ship building industry made ancient Beypore a much sought after by merchants from western Asia.

Cherai :
Cherai Beach fondly called “ The Princess of the Queen of the Arabian sea” is the best clean golden beach of Kerala. This lovely beach located 45 kms from Ernakulam city bordering Vypeen island is ideal for swimming. Occasionally Dolphins are spotted here. Cherai is a typical kerala village with paddy fields and coconut groves nearby adds its attraction.

Fort Kochi :
The Fort Kochi beach offers a tranquil experience at any time of the day. It presents an ideal ambiance to relax and to let thoughts soar to new heights of creativity either alone or with loved ones. A leisurely walk through the lanes of the city is the best way to discover historic fort Kochi. This fascinating beach is located 12 kms from Ernakulum city. Kochi has an eventful and colorful history with an obscure fishing village that became the first European township in India.

Kappad :
Kappad is the historic beach where Vasco-da-Gama landed for the very first time in May 1498, with 170 men in three vessels. This fascinating destination is located 16 kms from Kozhikode (Calicut) district. This historic event is commemorated on the beach as a monument. The charming beach is rock studded as is locally known as Kappakadavu. The extensive rock protruding into the sea is an interesting feature of the landscape.

Kovalam :
The world-famous beach resort, Kovalam has been a favorite spot for tourists since 1930s. The lovely coconut palms fringe the golden sands of Kovalam are worth attractive. The Ayurvedic parlors, yoga and meditation centers have sprung up all over the place aiming the Foreigners. Kovalam hosts a number of beach resorts in and around the destination. The Vizhinjam sea port located about 3 km away is famous for the old Hindu temples, huge churches and a Muslim shrine.

Marari :
The most fabulous stretch of soft sandy beach of Marari fringed with palm trees is an idyllic retreat for those who want to "get away from it all". It is one of the local fishing villages of Kerala where life still goes with the men going out to sea each day to earn a living bringing in the daily catch. Marari originates from "mararikulam” is located in the district of Alleppey.

Pallikere :
The beach of Pallikere is a beautiful expanse of shallow water and is fast developing as a most demanding tourist destination. The beach affords a scenic view of the Bekal Fort providing an ample scope for recreation and relaxation.

Payyambalam :
The beach of Kannur town, Payyambalam is well laid out garden and the massive landscaped sculpture of mother & child erected by noted sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman which makes it extremely captivating. This captivating beach located near the Kannur town is one of the beautiful beaches of Kerala. Payyambalam beach is one of the most demanding beaches in Kerala.

Shanghumukham :
The popular city beach Shanghumukham is located near Thiruvananathapuram airport. It offers a refreshing holiday option for the city dwellers. Plenty of tourists throng the Shanghumugham Beach of Kerala every day.

Thirumullavaram :
The prominent beach of Thirumullavaram is filled with coconut palms being an ideal spot for early morning walks. Its leisure to watch fisherman venture into the sea for their catch of the day. This beach is very well connected by road and offers good facilities for the visitors.

Varkala :
The quiet and isolated sandy expanse of Varkala Beach is ideal for relaxing without the crowds and bustle of some of the busier beaches in Kerala. The laid back attractions of Varkala Beach can be enjoyed while on Kerala beach tours with Kerala Backwater.
