Kerala Backwaters
The enchanting Kerala backwaters are a world of serenity and wonderment. The wide coastal regions of Kerala have a network of waterways, and estuaries of over forty rivers, lakes and natural canals connecting the coastal towns. These interlinked bodies of waterways are known as the backwaters of Kerala. There are many unique species of aquatic life including crabs, mudskippers, and frogs, animals such as otters and turtles, and water birds such as terns, kingfishers, darters and cormorants live in and alongside the backwaters. The Kerala backwaters features Palm trees, pandanus shrubs, various leafy plants and bushes coloring the surrounding landscape with rich green.

Cochin :
The historic port city Cochin is prominent for its natural harbor thus also known as "the Queen of the Arabian Sea,". The land consists of a cluster of small islands, as it is now known, is the starting point for many Kerala backwater cruises and has many historic buildings thus making it one of the most popular backwater destinations of Kerala.

Alappuzha :
This fascinating Backwater destination of Kerala is also known as the "Venice of the East," due to its contiguous waterways and canals. Alappuzha is famed for the Nehru Trophy Snake Boat race held here every year, around the festival of Onam. "Chundanvalloms" or the large Snake boats propelled by teams of rowers compete for the trophy instituted by the first Prime Minster of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Kasargod :
Kasargod district of North Kerala is known for an incredibly beautiful and green corridor, Valiyaparamba stretch of backwaters, along the coast of Kerala. Travel through this scenic backwaters to enjoy the serenity and beauty of the nature.

Kollam :

Kottayam :

Kozhikode :
Kozhikode previously known as Calicut is the Northern distinct of Kerala. The backwaters of Calicut are unspoiled and pristine with palm fringed rivulets, canals and lakes. It is indeed a perfect holiday destination of Kerala. Also enjoy a boat cruise and feel the beauty of nature.

Kumarakom :
Kumarakom situated in the beautiful Vembanad Lake, is a paradise on Earth. The bird sanctuary, tourist resorts and the scenic beauty along the backwaters made Kumarakom one of the most sought after Kerala Backwater destinations.

Kuttanad :
Kuttanad is acknowledged as the "Ricebowl of Kerala" for its vast expanses of paddy fields. The verdant paddy fields along the backwaters are awesome retreat for the visitors. The paddy fields of kuttanad are below sea level and are barricaded from the surrounding backwaters by earthern bunds.

Thiruvallam :
Thiruvallam is a beautiful backwater destination located 6 Km from Thiruvananthapuram central. The backwater is located at the conjunction of two rivers - the Killi and the Karamana and near the picturesque Lagoon of Veli.

Thiruvananthapuram :
The capital city of the state, Thiruvananthapuram, previously known as Trivandrum, is a starting point for Backwater Destinations of Kerala. The district is also known for its museums, palaces, Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple and sun kissed sea shores.
